Strategic Marketing Leader & Multidisciplinary Professional

30+ Years Driving Growth Across Design, Business & Digital Transformation

From creative studios to global trade, and from publishing to digital platforms— I bridge strategy, storytelling, and technology to deliver business impact in a fast-evolving marketplace.

About Me

I’m a strategic marketing leader and multidisciplinary professional with over 30 years of experience spanning design, media, publishing, international trade, e-commerce, and digital transformation.

My career began in advertising and creative media, where I saw firsthand how storytelling and design shape brand perception. I later navigated international trade, strengthening my business acumen and market analysis skills, before moving into digital entrepreneurship. As co-founder of an e-commerce brand, I led product positioning, customer acquisition, and retention strategies. Most recently, I built Appserved.com, helping SMEs grow through web development, SEO, and conversion-focused marketing funnels.

This journey has equipped me with a comprehensive marketing framework: market and competition analysis, brand positioning, storytelling, channel strategy, and customer retention. While I’m fluent in modern digital tools and platforms, my greatest strength lies in leading multi-disciplinary teams—aligning creative, technical, and commercial functions to deliver measurable growth.

At 56, I combine experience with agility. I embrace lifelong learning, leverage AI-driven tools, and maintain the discipline of a marathoner—having completed a Sub-2 half-marathon, a sub-3 30km marathon, and a sub-4 full marathon. Just as endurance running requires vision, pacing, and adaptability, I bring the same qualities to orchestrating campaigns and building brands.

I’m seeking to contribute to a forward-looking organization, where I can serve as a market architect, brand storyteller, and customer relationship builder—ensuring that strategy and execution move in lockstep toward business impact.

Candid Q&A: The Thinking Behind My Résumé

Not just about skills — this is how I connect the dots across business, creativity, and technology to drive value in real-world environments.

When were you born, and how does your experience stay relevant in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape?

I was born in 1969 and started my creative career in the early ’90s. Over three decades, I’ve evolved from traditional design into advertising, publishing, international trading, e-commerce, and modern web development. What keeps me relevant is my ability to integrate creativity, commercial thinking, and digital tools—including AI and scalable tech—to solve today’s business challenges with real-world solutions.

How does your creative background support business and marketing roles?

I don’t just make things look good—I solve problems with creative logic, audience insight, and technical fluency. Whether designing a layout or developing a site, my aim is always tied to ROI: clearer communication, stronger conversion, or better brand perception.

What’s your edge as a Marketing or Brand Manager?

My edge is multidisciplinary fluency. I’ve built brands, led campaigns, negotiated trade deals, managed e-commerce logistics, and coded websites. I understand marketing from strategy to execution — across media, platforms, and buyer psychology.

How do you think modern businesses should approach marketing today?

Agility and integration are key. Creative, technology, and business teams should not work in silos. Marketing today is cross-disciplinary. Brands need to speak clearly, scale fast, and adapt constantly — with data, tech, and AI driving smarter decisions.

Why are you transitioning back to employment now?

After years of running businesses and raising a family, I’m at a stage where I’m ready to reinvest in team collaboration. I’m seeking roles where I can contribute as a senior individual contributor or grow into leadership — especially where strategy and execution meet.

How do you use AI in your workflow?

AI enhances every phase of my work — from generating code components and creative ideas to testing content variations. It accelerates output without replacing creativity or judgment. I see AI as a strategic enabler, not a threat.

Are you more creative or strategic?

Both. I started as a designer and evolved through business ownership and technical execution. Now I thrive where creative insight, digital tools, and business strategy overlap — turning briefs into meaningful results.

What kind of roles are you open to?

Marketing Manager, Brand Strategist, Digital Marketing Lead, Communications Manager, Creative/Content Lead — full-time, part-time, or remote. I’m location-flexible and outcome-driven.

Are you comfortable managing or mentoring?

Yes. I’ve led teams in design, publishing, and e-commerce. I’m confident in guiding people, balancing ideas, and delivering on timelines and KPIs. Project ownership and leadership are my next natural steps.

You don’t hold a formal degree. How did you build your capabilities?

While I left formal education early due to financial constraints, I’ve spent 30+ years mastering my craft through real-world practice. From running agencies and publishing to managing e-commerce and learning code, I’ve cultivated multidisciplinary expertise that blends creativity, marketing, and strategy—valuable far beyond the classroom.

What are your salary expectations?

RM5,000 is a fair starting point based on my experience and current market understanding. That said, I’m more interested in long-term alignment and growth. I’m open to reviewing compensation based on performance after the initial period.

What languages do you speak, and how does that support your communication roles?

I’m fluent in English, Mandarin (Chinese), and Bahasa Malaysia. This multilingual ability supports my work in marketing and communication, allowing me to connect with diverse audiences, write or adapt messaging across segments, and collaborate with multicultural teams.

What do you enjoy outside of work—and does it influence your mindset?

I’m passionate about marathon running, football, badminton, and reading. These keep me focused, driven, and constantly learning—traits that mirror how I approach work: with resilience, curiosity, and long-term discipline.
